More about Jocelyn

A Life in Stories

Jocelyn began her career in regional newspapers in Queensland, working as a journalist and editor between 1996 and 2020. Over the years, she has covered community life, business, travel, arts, local government and human-interest stories, building a strong foundation in practical storytelling and editorial judgement.

Her work now blends journalism with photography and reflective writing, drawing on decades of experience in both media and community life.

Writing Beyond Journalism

Alongside her editorial work, Jocelyn is also developing memoir and fiction projects, including contributions to the anthology Paris Ink, inspired by a writing retreat in Paris.

As a writer and photographer, her current work explores memory, place, family and the subtle humour found in ordinary lives.

Community & Good Causes

Jocelyn has remained deeply connected to community life through volunteering, storytelling and advocacy, supporting organisations including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, local arts initiatives and community causes across regional Queensland.

Photography & Travel

Photography has long been central to Jocelyn’s storytelling, from whale watching in Hervey Bay and the landscapes of K’gari to rail journeys, regional towns and Queensland’s dinosaur country where she was born and raised.

Her work captures both the broad sweep of landscape and the small details that often tell the deeper story.
