A full run down of activities and attractions on show at this year’s Relish Food and Wine Fest (Saturday, June 8) is now available on the new website

Councillor for Sport, Recreation, Open Spaces and Events Darren Everard said the new website gives visitors a small taste of things to come.

“The website went live on Thursday afternoon and we’ve already received a lot of visitors,” he said.

“The word Relish literally means ‘to enjoy or take great pleasure in an experience’ and this really is the whole premise of the event.”

Council received funding from Tourism and Events Queensland to help grow the event into a regional showcase using Maryborough’s historic Portside District as the backdrop.

“The location is one of the key selling points,” Cr Everard said.

“Relish combines fantastic food and local produce with iconic streetscapes, Queen’s Park, Mary River Parklands and of course the mighty Mary River.

“The buzz is building after the inaugural event and we’re capitalising on that. Apart from fantastic local support, we’re really targeting the south east, particularly the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast market.”

Tickets ($10 per person) can be purchased online and include: Free wine sampling from visiting wineries, Entry into the Food Lovers Cooking Marquee,All day entertainment,XXXX Gold Mini Retreat,Live Life Healthy Section, and a Limited edition Relish Wine Glass (polycarbonate) for the first 1000 customers.

Cr Everard said highlights this year include, a new Live Life Healthy stall demonstrating healthy food preparation methods, bush tucker demonstrations hosted by Kingfisher Bay Resort, international wine tasting sessions and food and beer matching sessions.

“Add to that the best regional produce and products from across the region, as well as local cafes and restaurants, award winning wines and gourmet food stalls and it’s on its way to becoming one of the Fraser Coast’s signature events.

“It’s transformed the traditional Pub Fest weekend into two days of fantastic food, wine and culture.”
