Margaret River Gourmet Escape will return this November with an appetising line-up of new events and talent, including Australian culinary hero, Curtis Stone (pictured).
For the first time ever, the premier food and wine festival will run across four days, from November 16 to 19, and feature more than 50 of the world’s leading food and wine personalities, including chefs from World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Andre Chiang (Singapore), David Thompson (Thailand), Ashley Palmer-Watts (UK), Rodolfo Guzman (Chile) and Alex Atala (Brazil); and Asia’s Best Female Chef, May Chow (Hong Kong).
This year will see the addition of new and exciting events held at unique locations across the South West region, including Curtis Stone officially opening the festival at an Audi Gourmet Beach BBQ session in the pristine surrounds of Castle Bay Beach.
“I’m so excited to get back to Margaret River! I’ve got some beautiful memories from shooting Surfing the Menu there and I really feel like it’s one of the most special places in Australia – amazing local seafood and produce and, of course, an epic coastline,” Stone said.
“I’m looking forward to getting behind the stoves with some of the incredible chefs taking part this year. It’s going to be delicious.”
Other new events include, The Great Soiree at Fraser Gallop Estate; The High Life with Paul Iskov (a helicopter lunch); and the launch of the Official Closing Party at White Elephant Café.
Paying homage to Margaret River’s 50th anniversary of commercial wine production, the festival will host a selection of exclusive wine events, including the Cape Mentelle International Cabernet Tasting and Long Lunch. World renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson (UK) will join the festivities, alongside other respected names, James Halliday and Huon Hooke.
The heart of the festival, the Gourmet Village, will have a fresh feel for 2017 with the main stage hosted by comedian, actor, presenter and musician, Matt Okine. This is the place where visitors can sample their way through more than 100 local producers, offering some of nation’s most coveted wine, cheese, olive oil, chocolate and more.
Also making its debut in 2017, The World’s Best Chef’s Table is an exclusive and intimate restaurant experience nestled in the heart of the Gourmet Village. Guests can sip on some of the region’s best wine alongside some of the world’s most coveted chefs, as they create a dish showcasing WA produce.
Located a three hour drive south of Perth, Margaret River Gourmet Escape has become arguably Australia’s leading food and wine festival. Now in its sixth year, the event has brought prestige to WA’s events calendar, winning numerous awards including Best Tourism Event at the 2016 Australian Event Awards.
Tickets will go on sale at 12pm AWST on Friday, July 28.
